Cookie is a 5 year old spayed purebred female Border Collie. She is house broken, crate trained, good with other dogs, but we are not sure about children yet.
Her foster mom says that Cookie seems to be slightly suspicious, that she won't necessarily come when called or she will stay just outside your reach. She barks out of fear when strangers come in to the house and startles easily with loud noises, but quickly warms up. Her foster mom also says that she seems to be more comfortable when another dog is around. Cookie takes her stress out on a stuffed toy right now, and she seems to know what she is allowed to chew on and what she isn't.
Cookie is sweet, quiet and playful. She is easy to handle on walks and is very engaged in play. She would love a sporting home!
Princess is a 9 year old Border Collie/Beardie, we think. She is spayed and utd on shots. Princess has a very sad story, and she needs a home to call her own. Last September, Princess' mom, the lady of the house, passed away from cancer. Her Dad became very depressed. He was not able to take care of Princess very well. Then in June, the unthinkable happened, and Princess' Dad also passed away from cancer.
Princess is very lost without her family. She has her Daddy's t-shirt she loves to sleep on. She loves a crate and a bed. She doesn't much like other dogs or small kids. She knows the commands "sit", "down" and "shake a paw". Her recall is great and she likes to play fetch. She just wants a loving family to call her own for the rest of her life. Can you give Princess a good home?

Jack is about 1 year old, neutered, utd on all shots. We believe he is Sheltie/BC/Greyhound. Don't ask. Only his mother knows for sure, and sadly, she was shot when her litter was 3 months old, and they were left to fend for themselves in the wild. Yes, they were born in the wild. At the age of about 5 or 6 months, they were caught by the local dog pound, and were due to be put down. However, a wonderful woman rescued them, and took them in and worked with them. We also stepped in, and took two of them into rescue.
Jack and his brother Poe have proven the *experts* wrong, and have come a long way. Jack adores children, and we feel he would be best suited to a home with kids. He is good with kids of all ages. He is also very good with other dogs. Jack's only issue is fear of men...but he soon warms up to them if they just ignore him and let him come to them. Jack loves to run, but he really prefers to laze about and be cuddled.

Dixie is a 3 year old Pom/Chihuhua mix female. She is spayed/utd on shots, house trained. She seems to be more a woman's dog, but is okay with men as well. She is a little shy and nervous, but all in all, a nice little dog. She is NOT good with cats, and would be best suited to a home with no small children.
She loves to cuddle and is quite playful.

Volpe is a 7 month old purebred red and white Border Colliel He is neutered and is UTD on shots. Volpe means FOX, and he is smart as a fox! Volpe is a very sweet boy, loving and affectionate.
He does have one very serious issue however, and whoever adopts him, must be aware of it, and ready to deal with it.
Volpe has canine haemophelia. This is a serious blood disorder, just like in humans, that makes his blood not clot properly.
Due to his condition, little Volpe must not play roughly with other dogs. He also is recovering from a leg injury. Although he will never be a sporting dog, or a farm dog, he WILL be a most excellent family pet for the right person!
Kahlua is approximately 2 years old, an Australian Shepherd mix. She is housebroken. She was rescued at the same time as Olivia, but has been waiting in a foster home for her to to come into HHBCR for adoption.
She is extremely overweight, and needs a family who will help her with that. Kahlua is very loving and affectionate, and she LOVES to play! With the right family she will take off all the extra weight fast! Kahlua will be spayed soon.
