Who is Hull's Haven Border Collie Rescue

Four years ago, Sally Hull (director of rescue) researched the Border Collie as a potentianl breed of puppy to buy. What she read astounded her. She had become enamoured of the breed once she brought home her first pup, Frodo. She discovered that all things they said about the breed were true: Brilliant, devoted, full of energy, always wanting to work and please. Soon after, there was another pup, Muna.

What Sally sadly began to find out was that this amazing breed was forever in trouble... purchased as puppies because "they are smart and easy to train", then tossed aside like garbage, because they are not looked after, their energies not managed properly. A bored Border Collie is not a happy Border Collie. The problem with intelligent breeds is that if you don't use their minds, they will become destructive. That is when Sally decided she was going to help.

Her first rescue was Freckles.

Sally's inital intention was to foster her... but instead fell deeply in love, and found it impossible to let her go. She began doing more work with fundraising for other rescues and helping rehome dogs with networking.

Sally then met a wonderful rescuer named Shahna Rice, who inspired her to delve into rescue and the rest, they say, is history.

It has been a learning experience and Sally has made many mistakes along the way, as she is only human, but rescue has become a passion, her life's dream. She has met some amazing people and even more amazing dogs in her work. Sally hopes she can inspire others to help these voiceless innocents who suffer needlessly.

Please don't breed or buy while others suffer and die!
