She never whined from the pain, and her eyes were always full of love and trust. She must have been taught not to kiss, so instead, she poked you with her sweet little nose! Ruth spent hours every day giving Dazzle physiotherapy, massage, medications and carrying her outside to potty. That wasn’t the hardest part. The worst was keeping Dazzle calm and in her kennel. A 5 month old puppy doesn’t like being calm and quiet, not even with a broken leg. After several weeks, Dazzle healed beautifully. She still had to be kept on leash and quiet.
In the meantime, many good and kind people donated to Dazzle’s vet bills, and soon they were all paid for. There are so many wonderful people in the dog loving community. Donations came from all over Canada and the USA…even $15, a 12 year old boy’s allowance.
I was given the name of a woman who had recently lost her beloved Border Collie to cancer. I emailed Tricia, and she responded. She wasn’t sure if they were ready, but they wanted to meet Dazzle. They went over to Ruth’s home. Young Kent, the 14 year old son, had been desperately missing his dog. He was not sure he was ready at all. Little Dazzle is a shy dog, who normally would give a little growl and bark at all strangers until she got to know them.
When Kent arrived, Dazzle literally launched herself into his arms, and Ruth told me later that she watched a young man fall in love right in front of her eyes.

Dazzle now lives with Tricia and her family. She is a very happy dog. She will be even happier when she can run and play like any other dog, but for now, she must be kept on a leash so her little leg can heal.
