Dixie Dixie Hello! My name is * My rescue thinks I am a * breed / mix I am approximately * age Energy Level * high, medium, low How I am with other dogs * How I am with cats * Am I OK with children? * certain ages? Training * house trained/kennel-crate More about me... Meet Dixie! This sweet girl is ready to melt your heart and is available for all the snuggles she can get. She loves to play with her toys in the house and in the yard, collecting them all in her bed or on her various cushions around the home. She is well-behaved and relaxed, though doesn’t understand commands yet like sit or stay. She will come when called and is very eager to please and be loved. She doesn’t jump on the furniture - but her cute face will make it hard for you to resist inviting her up to cuddle! She is working very hard on not having accidents around the home, and is completely ashamed and embarrassed when she knows she has made a mistake. In only a week she has improved significantly, but will still wee if she is overexcited and met with high energy when greeting her favorite people after being apart, or when she gets scared from some shock or surprise (say…running into a screen door?). If you can greet her with lower energy and gentle snuggles and pets, it won’t be long until she is in control and ready for zoomies and high-level play. She is very gentle with everyone she meets, interacting with children and adults of all ages on her walks. She walks on the leash pretty well, but gets a bit nervous when being passed by faster-moving traffic like bikes or joggers. She won’t react or bark, but does benefit from being reassured and being made to feel safe. She shows interest in meeting other small dogs and playing, but is still a bit unsure what to make of those who approach with a lot of energy straight away. She is not very vocal, only once letting us know in a very subdued way that there was company at the door (who she then happily greeted and welcomed into the house). Things to note: - she will eat her poop if she is left alone, but if you are with her outside and call to her she will happily leave it (she will drop whatever it is that she has in her mouth when you tell her to) - she has taken certain items from the open garbage and hidden them in her bed, along with a few socks and slippers she took in the early days before she had her own collection of toys.
